Our third annual meeting - SATXIII - has been rescheduled for May 6 through 8, 2021 in San Antonio, TX.020. Here is all the information that you need.   

   

WHERE AND GETTING THERE:  

 

The venue is the Hilton Hotel at the San Antonio Airport. It is just two miles from the airport. The hotel offers free transportation to and from the airport, and will also provide free transportation to and from any destination within a three mile radius of the hotel.

 

THE COST:  

 

The cost for your 3 night stay (Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights) is an unbelievable $51 per man, per night, in a shared room (2 men splitting a room cost of $102), and $96.00 per night per man for a single room – and, this includes a full eggs and bacon/sausage, fruit, etc. buffet breakfast, Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. 

**You will only obtain this special rate by identifying yourself as a member of the Barbershop group using the group code SPP. This special rate guaranty will expire on March 15, 2021. If you do not reserve your room by that date, you will lose the opportunity for this special low rate.

THE EVENTS

​On Friday Afternoon

 

We will hold our 2nd Old Codgers Quartet Contest – where audience respect for competitors appears to have been abandoned - not to be missed. 

​On Friday Night

 

Have fun meeting and greeting old friends and sing a few tags.  Our banquet will be held tonight at the hotel with some special entertainment.   The Hilton is hosting a two hour wine and beer cocktail and hors d’oeuvres party, from 5 to 7 PM just for us.   That should get everyone ready for a night of song.

The menu will be the Hilton's Supreme Buffet Dinner Menu:

Fresh Mixed Greens, Cherry Tomato, Cucumbers, Goat Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette 

Sea Salt and Thyme Fresh Salmon, Yellow Tomato Coulis, Rotisserie Style Chicken 

Chef Carved Roasted Prime Rib Au Jus, Creamy Horseradish, Dinner Rolls 

Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes 

Glazed Baby Carrots 

Sautéed Green Beans Amandine, Bacon 

Flourless Chocolate Torte

​On Saturday Afternoon

 

The Hilton is providing a 52 person bus, to take those who wish to go, into the center of town where you can spend five hours on the Riverwalk and enjoy lunch at the restaurant of your choice.

​On Saturday Night

 

We will be the guests of Lodge #1, the 'Friends in Harmony'  to enjoy their annual show.  Plus, we may have the opportunity to sing a couple Pole-Cat songs with them on stage.   Transportation will be provided  to and from the hotel.

AFTER THE SPECIAL ENTERTAINMENT

The rest of the night will be spent enjoying many old songs with many of your old friends, and a whole bunch of new singing friends. 

A reserved meeting room will be available to us during our entire stay.   Our breakfasts and the banquet will be served in our own meeting room.

An endless keg of beer will be available for you to serve yourself in our meeting room.

REGISTERING FOR THE EVENT

The registration fee for the convention is $80---until 15 December.   This will include the cost of the Saturday night banquet, free serve yourself beer for the entire weekend, registration materials and registration personnel. Additionally, your breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings and any societal incidental expenses are included in your room rate and registration fee.  The registration fee for eligible non-members is $110 which includes membership and administrative fees.  Late registration fee for members (after 15 December) will be $100.

CAVEATS

We have a contract with the Hilton that provides for free meeting rooms and all the other concessions mentioned above ONLY, IF WE MEET CERTAIN ROOM RESERVATION TARGETS BY 15 NOVEMBER– 11/15/19.  If we fail to meet those targets, we forfeit a bundle of money----and the entire contract is dead.

Dead means no gathering!!! 

Some of our members have indicated that they intend to bring their wives to this event.   You may wish to reconsider.

There are no activities planned for our ladies and the San Antonio city center is over 7 miles away.  The airport area where the Hotel is located is rather removed from any major attractions.   This event was always intended to be a members’ only event such as DELA, SAGE LAKE and the HARMONY BRIGADES – a guys’ get away weekend.
