The whole purpose of this weekend is to gather and sing and enjoy each other's company. Here are some details included with your Registration:
On Friday afternoon, the Hilton is providing two 52 person buses, to take those who wish to go, into the center of town where you can spend five hours on the Riverwalk and enjoy lunch at the restaurant of your choice.
Following the bus trip to town, the Hilton is hosting a two hour cocktail and hors d’oeuvres party just for us. That should get everyone ready for a night of song.
Back by universal request, and In the interest of providing something for some of our braver, and most ardently competitive members, who are willing to suffer the slings and arrows of their peers, we will be holding the Old Codgers’ Quartet Contest on Saturday afternoon. Trophies and prizes may be awarded, or not. Judges will be selected at random from among the audience. Audience disrespect of judges and competitors will be encouraged.
There will be a banquet followed by some very special entertainment on Saturday night. The menu will be the Hilton’s Supreme Dinner Menu:
Sea salt and thyme fresh salmon, yellow tomato coulis
Rotisserie style chicken
Chef Carved roasted prime rib au jus, creamy horseradish, dinner rolls
Yukon gold mashed potatoes
Glazed baby carrots
Sautéed green beans amandine, bacon
Flourless chocolate torte
After the Special Entertainment, the rest of the night will be spent enjoying many old songs with many of your old friends, and a whole bunch of new singing friends.
A reserved meeting room will be available to us during our entire stay. Our breakfasts and the banquet will be served in our own meeting room.
The registration fee for the convention is $100. This will include the cost of the Friday night banquet, free serve-yourself beer for the entire weekend, registration materials and registration personnel. Additionally, your breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings and any societal incidental expenses are included.
An endless keg of beer will be available for you to serve yourself in our meeting room.
PLEASE NOTE: Some of our members have indicated that they intend to bring their wives to this event. You may wish to reconsider. There are no activities planned for our ladies and the San Antonio city center is over 7 miles away. The airport area where the Hotel is located is rather removed from any major attractions. This event was always intended to be a members’ only event such as DELA, SAGE LAKE and the HARMONY BRIGADES – a guys getaway weekend.
